Nautilus

Dear Parents,

My name is Erin Martin, and I am lucky enough to be able to guide the Nautilus class this year. I have a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration, a minor in Child Development, and a Master’s of Science in Natural Resource Management. Additionally, I am Montessori trained for ages 6-12. I taught in private Montessori schools for 9 years. The first 4 years I worked in a 3-6 year old class in Midway, Utah. I then went to training for an Elementary I certification and worked in a lower elementary (1st-3rd grade) class in Park City, Utah. After this, I was asked to build an Upper Elementary program at the same school. I then completed my Elementary I-II certification and spent the next 3 years building an upper elementary class. During the summer of 2014 my family and I moved back to California and I worked at another private Montessori school leading a 1st – 4th grade class. During that first year back in California, I was excited to learn about CMP and found myself drawn to making the move from the private sector to the public sector. I began working at CMP Carmichael as an Upper Elementary Teacher in the Nautilus class in 2015.

I have been married to my husband Dave for 12 years. We have two children, two dogs, two cats, three aquatic turtles, one tortoise, one gecko, one bearded dragon, and a few fish. Our son is currently a 5th grader and our daughter is a 2nd grader at this campus. I grew up about an hour east of here in Amador County. Teaching is actually my second career. My first career was as a wildland firefighter for the Forest Service. I held positions as an engine crew member (1 year), a hotshot (3 years), a fire engine operator (1 year), and a fire prevention technician (2 years). I left firefighting to pursue my Master’s degree at Utah State University. It was after this time that I stumbled upon Montessori and have made it a part of my life ever since.

I am excited for this school year and love being a part of the CMP community. Thank you for allowing me to guide your wonderful children. I am excited to get to know all of you and your children as the year progresses.

Should you have any questions, please email me at emartin@cacmp.org.

Sincerely,

Ms. Erin
